Local Waxhaw Activities

Museum of the Waxhaws – Located off Highway 75, the Museum of the Waxhaws is open three days a week to the public with field trips and group visits occurring as scheduled throughout each week. Their goal is to foster community, understanding, and reconciliation by telling more stories. 


Cane Creek Park – This 1,050-acre park includes a 300-acre lake for boating, swimming, fishing, and lots of other water activities. It’s open throughout the year with access to campgrounds, picnic shelters, an amphitheater, a lakeside lodge and more.


JAARS – JAARS is an international community where the Wycliff Bible translators work and live. On their campus you can find a museum with a variety of artifacts and information about their mission. Learn more about their organization here.


Eight Legs Gallery – Eight Legs Gallery is located in Waxhaw, NC carries “Art with Heart” created by local artists in the North and South Carolina area. Art pieces include a selection of oil paintings, water color, pastels, acrylics, wood art, pottery, fused glass and much more and the gallery offers a variety of art classes for local residents.


Storefront Theatre – Home to the Storefront Theatre Company, this Waxhaw venue plays host to local and regional talents as they bring performances to stage without Without benefit of costumes, props, or elaborate sets. Their talented actors use voices, facial expressions, and attitude to make the stories come alive in the audience’s imagination.


Waxhaw Sk8 Park – Located off Caldwell Street in Downtown, the Waxhaw Sk8 Park is complete with a half-pipe, quarter-pipe, decking, rails, ramps, a bowl and more!


Harvey Clay Nesbit Park – This 40 acre park is located in the Northwest quadrant of Waxhaw and is home to baseball, softball, and multipurpose fields as well as picnic shelters and other recreational areas available for reservation through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
